The Real Reason You Keep Quitting Your Exercise Program
It's a simple mistake that so many make. Don't be one of them.
When it comes to fitness, you’re much more likely to stick with a routine that contains moves and exercises you’re good at. Naturally, you’re going to enjoy these exercises because you’re naturally good at them. You progress quicker and you’re better than your friends. This is a positive reinforcement loop that will build a strong connection between your happiness and pursuing your physical excellence.
It makes building the habit of exercising regularly easy.
Some folks think they need to pursue only things they suck at. Sure, there is some merit to doing things you struggle at but don’t take this too far. There’s nothing wrong with seeking out things that you have a leg up on your competition. If you keep trying to do things you’re not naturally good at you’re just going to build more frustration. That’s likely going to lead to you quitting or not putting in as much effort.
Lean into your natural gifts. If you’re built like a tank then go win powerlifting meets. If you’re small as a twig, then learn all the cool bodyweight gymnastic movements and show off to your friends. If you’re tall, then get on a rowing machine. If you’re short, well I’m sorry. (Just kidding).
Let those genes and inherited traits shine through. Go pursue your greatness and make working out as fun as possible. That way you’ll never quit again.
